Dave Moloney made his first descent down Rabbit Ears pass in late August of 1988. As he drove into the the lush green valley, the beauty of the meandering Yampa River and the magnificence of the surrounding mountains stirred something inside of him. Dave had dreamed about moving to the mountains of Colorado, and after experiencing firsthand the small town charm, spectacular weather and fantastic scenery of Steamboat Springs, he was convinced that this was the place for him. His anticipation of moving to "Ski Town, USA" grew daily and that December he left Connecticut, towing all his worldly pssessions behind him, to ake up permanent residence in the place naicknamed "The Boat".
On his first ski run down the legendary slopes of "Champagne powder," Dave Moloney knew that he'd found something incredibly special. The mountain, the pople, the town - this was home. He could feel his "love at first sight" impression growing. Still today, years after Dave arrived, he experiences the unmatched feeling of excitement that comes with love of the territory.
Steamboat Springs Fever
It's a skier's Paradise, which boasts more than 130 ski trails and 20 chair lifts. And although more Olympic skiers come from this formidable mountain town that anywhere else in the U.S., it was the fiendliness of its people that first sold Dave and still continues to convince him that Steamboat Springs is where he wants to remain. "It's a fantastic community with great resources," Dave says. "I loved the life here and understand as much as anyone why people who visit just once, want to stay." He takes full advantage of everything this beautiful area offers. In the summer he enjoys activities with his family, like rollerblading, golf, camping and fly-fishing. Dave also plays guitar each week at his church. Many of the songs he composes himself. "I love to sing and play, especially when the lyrics are close to the heart," Dave says.
Prior to living here, Dave worked in computer programming and software analysis. He had always had a keen interest in real estate and since he knew for certain that he wasn't about to leave Steamboat Springs for work elsewhere, he decided to take his computer savvy and apply it to a new career in real estate. "It was a logical progressio n- I love the Valley and realize all the benefits of living here," Dave says. "Once I implemented some innovative computer programs, my real estate business really clicked." With his Web site, one of the first in Colorado, he now had the capability of connecting with both buyers and sellers, not only locally, but also worldwide. "One concept I brought from the computer industry was the importance of seeing 'the big picture' and how things needed to work from beginning to end. I apply that to different phrases of my work and it really helps tie together the complex transactions I'm involved in on a daily basis."
Springboard to Success
His love for the Steamboat area makes Dave proficient with buyers and relocations, but another asset is his experience in listing properties. Dave says, "often, the seller lives out of town and I have to handle most everything over the phone. It's not simple doing sales via long-distance but with the help of faxes, e-email and the access I provide to buyer/seller data on my Web site, things flow much easier." He has a positive attitude in everything he does. With this upbeat approach to life that he also brings to his work, it allows Dave to focus his energies on delivering Peak Performance.
